We want to educate and change.
We have been working for years to create something unique here in Richmond, Virginia. We have now officially opened "Onetribe Adorn," a product showroom, body modification history learning facility, and by-appointment procedural space.
- The Onetribe Richmond, VA jewelry production workshop where customers can meet jewelry artists and work one on one to produce made-to-order custom adornments. We are one of a handful of piercing studios in the world to offer on-site jewelry production, specializing in organics and historical designs.
- A procedural studio conducting most piercing procedures, featuring the world's best glass, titanium and precious metal body jewelry from Anatometal, Neometal, Gorilla Glass, Onetribe, Quetzalli, and Body Vision Los Angeles. We install ONLY internally threaded and threadless jewelry, ONLY ASTM certified implant grade metals and/or inert materials (properly finished virgin teflon or glass, for example). No external threading, no step down threading, no steel, no acrylic. No junk.
- The entire Onetribe product lineup - all of our horn, stone, bone, exotic hardwood, amber, and precious metal jewelry. View and touch the materials we use, pick your own and work with us one on one to create custom jewelry of any kind.
- An educational area devoted to body modification education, featuring museum quality tribal antiquities on display, and a massive array of books, journal articles and editorial papers devoted to the origins of body modification and adornment
- A staff that gives a damn about you, our community and the world
Currently on display are our Eastern and Western hemisphere antiquities displays, featuring vintage to 2000+ year old jewelry from Southeast Asia, Mainland Asia, Papua, Mexico, Guatemala and more.
Engage the world.
Through community outreach and constant contact, we hope to foster the idea that adornment is a natural, necessary part of our existence as humans. It helps us feel complete, it makes the world a beautiful place, and it just makes things more interesting. An 18g earring is as much of an adornment rooted in tradition as a 3" stretched ear lobe. One takes longer, requires more patience and involves more societal taboo but both are alterations of the body for the sake of beauty and ritual. In our eyes, adornment is simply making ourselves beautiful. A scarification, a tattoo, a piercing - we are children of the past growing toward a beautiful future, and these are the media with which we adorn ourselves.
